Tempest Cream Swingliner V3

$775.00
Due to popular demand, I have remastered the legendary Swingliner.
I have learned quite a bit from years of servicing them and understanding the strengths and weaknesses the V1 and V2 had.
This machine has been reimagined and remastered with both performance, longevity, and ease of maintenance in mind.
The frame is machined from a solid block of steel.  The swingarm is made of aircraft aluminum. The nipple post is out of tool steel.
It uses a reliable Mabuchi motor that has stood the test of time and surpassed the Maxon and Faulhaber motors I experimented with in the past.

This machine is known for simple, plug-and-play mechanics, yet it offers two different hits depending on how you orient your clipcord.
Positive up will hit sharper/harder.
Positive down will hit softer/blunt.
This machine isn't loud, but it does have a distinctive growl to it.

I designed the V3 Swingliner to sit low and balanced in the hand, yet tall enough to avoid getting in the way for those with large hands.
Weighing in at 4.85 oz (138 grams), it has a "Goldilocks" mass.  It feels significant, yet very agile.

FAQ's

What is the voltage range on this?

3-6.5 Volts

What is the safe amperage range?

It is best if the amperage is below .4 amps.  This machine will typically pull .2-.35 amps depending on voltage and cartridge tension.

Is there any tuning involved?

No. This is a clever plug and play machine with two different hits built into the design.

Simply reversing the polarity by how you attach your clip cord will change the hit from hard to soft.

Positive up will hit harder/sharper

Positive down will hit softer/more blunt.

How can I verify that my cord is marked correctly?

Put your finger on the cam while it's running. You will feel the direction it's turning.

If your cord is marked properly, Positive up (red) will spin clockwise. (counterclockwise with positive down)

What options are there for being wireless?

I recommend a battery grip.  I know Inkclaw Official has a battery grip with a clip cord adapter.

Can this machine use standard needles?

No. Not this batch.

How do I put a rubber band on this?

You don't.  I designed the nipple post to keep the plunger bar secured without needing a rubber band.

My machine is cutting out.  What could be the issue?

In most cases, it is a faulty clip cord.  If not that, it could be a loose binding post, or the set screw that holds the motor in place (on the top front of the frame by the swing arm).  If that set screw is loose, or the binding posts are loose, the machine will have interrupted electrical connection.

My machine is fluctuating in speed.  What could be the issue?

If the electrical connection is solid, it could be a dry or damaged bearing.

Most likely the roller bearing on the swingarm that the cam rotates on.

a single drop of sewing machine oil may fix the issue.  This can also be sourced on the website.
