The MCI is well-suited for color packing, shading, and fine line work, offering a controlled, responsive feel for experienced artists.

  • Keep sterilants away from all moving and electrical components.
    Sterilants are corrosive and will damage the machine if used carelessly.

  • Operating range: 3 – 6.5 volts

    • This machine performs effectively at low speeds

    • Preferred voltage for shading: 4.5 – 5 volts

  • Polarity:

    • Not critical, but the machine typically runs more efficiently with positive down

  • Impact screw setup:

    • May be backed off, but it’s ideal to maintain a slight amount of impact to reduce strain on the motor shaft

    • Turning the screw in too far can stall the machine or overload the motor

    • Recommended setting: approximately ¼ to ½ turn clockwise from zero impact

  • Cartridge compatibility:

    • This machine is cartridge friendly

    • Lower tension cartridges are recommended for optimal response

  • Bearing care:

    • After extended use, bearings may dry out

    • If needed, apply a single drop of sewing machine oil to the bearing area

    • Do not oil or fill the motor with oil
